Nicholas Coops

Director, Masters for Geomatics for Environmental Management Co-director, Master of Sustainable Forest Management. Nicholas and his research team in the Integrated Remote Sensing Studio (IRSS) overall research program is focused on increasing understanding of the interaction between vegetation pigments, biochemistry and structure and how remote sensing technologies can be used to estimate properties of vegetation at a range of spatial and temporal scales. The IRSS key focus area is forestry and the application of remote sensing to conservation, management and production issues.

José Antônio Aleixo da Silva

Agricultural Engineer, PhD and Post-doctorate in Biometrics and Forest Management, Visiting Professor at the University of Georgia (USA) and the Technical University of Berlin. Former president of the Pernambuco Academy of Sciences and former Director of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science, member of the National Academy of Engineering, Full Professor in the Department of Forest Science at UFRPE.

Rinaldo Luiz Caraciolo Ferreira

Rinaldo Luiz Caraciolo Ferreira – Forest Engineer from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (1983), Master and Doctor in Forest Sciences, area of ​​Forest Management, from the Federal University of Viçosa and Post-Doctorate at the University of Córdoba-Spain. He has been a Full Professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco in the area of ​​Forest Management since 1984. He is the Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Agricultural Sciences. He was Coordinator of the Undergraduate Course in Forestry Engineering (1989-1990), Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Forest Sciences (2002-2004; 2013-2015, 2019-2021), Pro-Rector of Planning at UFRPE (2004-2008) and Visiting Professor at the University of Córdoba-Spain (April-May/2010).

Liana O. Anderson

Biologist, with a DPhil in Geography and the Environment from Oxford University (2006-2011) and a Postdoc from the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) at the University of Oxford (2011-2014). Since September 2025, I am a researcher at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Brasil. I am also a Professor in the Post-grad program on Remote Sensing at INPE, and I co-lead the Tropical Ecosystems and Environmental Science Group (TREES lab).

Lin Cao

Prof. Dr. Lin Cao is a Professor in the Co-Innovation Center for Sustainable Forestry in Southern China and the College of Forestry and Grassland, College of Water and Soil Conservation, Nanjing Forestry University. He is mainly engaged in research on remote sensing monitoring of forest resources, precision forest cultivation, and biodiversity monitoring.

Matheus Pinheiro Ferreira

He holds a degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR, 2010) with supplementary training at the University of Freiburg/Germany, a Master's degree (2012) and a PhD (2017) in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). His current research focuses on the monitoring and quantification of forest resources through remote sensing and forest inventories.

Sandor Lenk

Associate Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His work focuses on the development and application of optical measurement techniques.
